I sold my first romance in 1997 and my
second one in 1998. Since that time, I quit writing romance and jumped back
into the business world. Mainly because I couldn't make enough money writing romance,
at least not at the speed I was writing and not selling them. I lost my passion for writing romance, and it took me a long walk to realize it wasn't in my heart anymore. I've been moved by the Lord to write for Him.
I was member of the Orange County Chapter
of RWA since 1984, and I served a stint as the speaker features writer for the
Orange Blossom newsletter. I helped develop and write the bylaws for the
chapter's first contest for published authors. This led to a nomination for
volunteer of the year in 1999. No, I didn't win, but the recognition was pretty cool. I served on the early board of
OC RWA and helped shape the chapter.
I've worked for movie studios, written
scripts, local commentaries, corporate newsletters, and technical manuals,
along with more romance novels than I've sold. When I say "I've been there
and done that," I mean it! I doubt there's a job I can't handle, other than brain surgery, though if you give me enough time, I could probably at the minimum assist.
Up until August of 07, I worked as a medical billing manager for a large medical practice in Laguna Hills,
California. As of now, both my husband and myself are officially out of the "grind." We like to say we're "transitionally" retired, as we're both relatively young.
I've been married for 34 years to a
FANTASTIC Christian man, Tom. He's a DJ at 88.5 KSBR and worked for ATT so long
he'd seen three corporate name changes. He retired in June of 07. He's really special and has supported me in so many wonderful ways and he leads me in the Lord's Word.
We have a beautiful, successful daughter
named Kelly who graduated from SDSU and now works in marketing and design for a
nationwide home builder. We have two cats, Spencer and Dhani, who absolutely
run our lives.
I've been a huge Beatles fan since I saw
them on Ed Sullivan and collect memorabilia.
I live in Mission Viejo, California, the
"city of trees."
